“Other brands may be sleeping but Marco Bicego is certainly not. In the face of what could be a crushing financial crisis for Eurozone countries, the Italian designer is continuing to invest in building his brand worldwide and the UK is at the top of his priority”
I enjoyed reading this article on Marco Bicego in the Professional Jeweller. It describes his personality, passions, hobbies, and the mindset behind his business and the jewellery itself.
“It is a cliché to say that Italians are passionate, but if there is one overriding emotion that shines through when you meet with Bicego it is his passion: his passion for life, his passion for his family, his passion for jewellery. After all, it was passion that led to the creation of his brand, not a desire to make a living from jewellery.”
The article goes on to say that “Marco Bicego is celebrating 11 years in business this year. Last year it marked its decade anniversary with a lavish party at its even more lavish new headquarters, a sprawling 6,000sqm estate in the Italian town of Trissino near Vicenza that has everything a jewellery company could require, including areas dedicated to prototyping and production and even a fully functioning spa.”. How interesting! And fun.
From a business standpoint, it is mentioned that after Marco Bicego’s success in Italy, he has a vision to build its reputation more internationally. New Zealand is certainly paving the way, stocking a extensive range of Marco Bicego jewellery at Orsini Fine Jewellery in Auckland. Sarah Hutchings, Orsini Fine Jewellery Director, was interviewed by Mindfood magazine to find out her thoughts on Marco Bicego and Italian jewellery in NZ, as Sarah states in the interview ‘Marco Bicego’s work is very creative, beautiful and organic. Marco designs jewellery with just the right combination of tradition and modernity, pieces that last from one season to the next. The best overall term for his jewellery is ‘everyday luxury’.
