Rhodolite Garnet
Rhodolite Garnets are an intermediate variety, between pyrope and almandine garnet, with a characteristic dark or purplish red colour. Rhodolite is usually quite transparent and has a remarkable shine. The name is derived from the Greek for “rose-like”. Although the term Rhodolite itself is not officially recognized as a mineralogical term, this particular garnet, thanks to its colouration and inclusion-free nature, makes Rhodolite an extremely sought after gemstone.
