The new charm celebrates a historic partnership dedicated to the conservation of the Italian coastline environments and their symbolic species. An association that has lasted nearly two decades between DoDo and WWF, united in the battle for the protection of biodiversity through the "ambassador species". An authentic partnership that is renewed today in choosing the pink flamingo, a symbol of excellence and resilience of the Mediterranean coastal ecosystems.
A partnership that has lasted for almost two decades that between DoDo and WWF Italy, united in the battle to protect biodiversity through “ambassador species.” An authentic partnership that today is renewed by choosing as its protagonist the pink flamingo, a symbol of elegance and resilience of Mediterranean coastal ecosystems. To name some of the most recent projects carried out, last year DoDo supported activities to protect an iconic species of our seas, the Monk Seal, the only pinniped in the Mediterranean. In 2023, DoDo partnered with WWF Italy to protect the osprey, one of Italy's rarest birds of prey. In 2022, the partnership “spread its wings” with DoDo's support of the butterfly garden at WWF's Le Cesine Oasis in Puglia, with the goal of protecting the biodiversity of these pollinating insects, considered an excellent indicator of the health of the environment. In 2021, the alliance was reconfirmed to defend the Mediterranean Caretta caretta turtles and the WWF Policoro Oasis in Basilicata.
To celebrate this commitment, DoDo has created a new charm in 9K rose gold with mother of pearl effect enamel, transforming the flamingo into a messenger of environmental awareness. A jewel that will be launched on May 22nd, it becomes a tangible symbol of the dedication to nature conservation. In an age in which attention to the environment is increasingly central, DoDo distinguishes itself as a brand that has made sustainability an integral part of its identity. The collaboration with the WWF, which has lasted nearly 2 decades, is the tangible proof of this authentic and lasting commitment. With the new flamingo charm, DoDo reminds us that each of us, in our small way, can make the difference in protecting our Planet and its wonders. The flamingo, with its elegance and capacity to prosper in delicate environments, becomes the symbol of a powerful message: "Born to rise" and to inspire every one of us to do our part to protect biodiversity.
Beautiful symbol of elegance since antiquity, the flamingo is pictured in prehistoric caves and is the symbol of the color red in Egyptian hieroglyphics. It can reach 115 cm in height and have a 165 cm wingspan and owes the pink color of its feathers to the pigments of the crustaceans it eats. Couples of the species come together in autumn with spectacular wedding processions; the little ones are cared for in a community nest and fed during the first month of life with "crop milk", a substance produced in the digestive tract of the parents.DoDo supports the work of the WWF in the protection of the Oases that are the habitat of the flamingo: sales of the Flamingo charm are not correlated to DoDo's contribution to the WWF.
