The most iconic engagement ring design of all times would have to be the famous oval blue sapphire with diamond pave surround.
For anyone too young to remember, that was Princess Diana’s ring well before Prince William proposed to Kate.
Lady Diana Spencer and Charles, Prince of Wales, became engaged in February 1981. Her engagement ring consists of 14 solitaire diamonds elegantly surrounding a 12-carat oval blue Ceylon sapphire set in 18-karat white gold. It was created by jeweler Garrard and cost at the time, 28,000 pounds on current exchange rates.
A stunning ring ‘truly made for a Princess’.
The Ceylon Sapphires are one of my favourite Precious Gemstones. We have made many sapphire rings at Orsini Fine Jewellery and can get specific sapphires in to view.
